Montclair Library Anime Event

Join East Side Mags at the Montclair Public Library at 4:30pm on October 24th for a special screening of Ghost in the Shell and an introduction to Japanese anime film by lecturer Erik Jacobson.

Erik Jacobson (Montclair State University) leads a discussion of Ghost in the Shell to understand the futuristic world inhabited by the characters and its implicit message for our contemporary society. The film, itself, is about a female cyborg agent who along with the Internal Bureau of Investigations is investigating “The Puppet Master,” a mysterious and threatening computer virus capable of infiltrating human hosts.

This event includes cosplay in partnership with Eastside Mags.

This program is part of Montclair State University’s Roboto-San: The Contrasting Visions of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Japanese & Western Cultures. This series was made possible by a grant from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Additional support has been provided by Montclair Public Library, Montclair Historical Society, Clifton High School Robotics, Montclair Society of Engineers, and Montclair TV34.
