Punk Rock & Cocktails Volume 2 Signing

It’s the encore you’ve been waiting for!

Jesse Hubbard - author and curator of Punk Rock & Cocktails - is back with another round! Come check out Punk Rock & Cocktails Volume 2!

About the book: Two years after the acclaimed first installment of Punk Rock & Cocktails comes the highly anticipated follow up: Punk Rock & Cocktails Volume 2.

What to expect from Volume 2? 20 different Albums, 20 brand new craft cocktails and 20 new lively and entertaining stories about some of the most loved and accomplished bands in punk rock and beyond.

Punk Rock & Cocktails exists to bring people together to enjoy the music and art of the incredible musicians that grace the pages of the book while enjoying a cocktail or two along the way. It’s about bringing people together and celebrating the sense of community that punk rock offers us all.

About the author: Jesse Hubbard has spent the majority of his life working with music and cocktails.

In the music business he’s worked for CBS radio, an East Coast record label, managed bands, booked shows and played (poorly) in bands himself. And in the world of cocktails he’s run bars in NJ, Oregon, Louisville, KY and Columbus, OH and has competed in and won multiple cocktail competitions over the years.

Originally from New Jersey, Jesse and his wife Kristena now reside in Columbus, OH with their three fur-babies, Scooter He-Man, Lola BB-8 and Charlee Barkley. When he’s not busy creating amazing cocktails, Jesse hosts the popular podcast “Sound Out with Jesse Hubbard” and you’ll often still find him at the local record store or catching a show at one of the many incredible rock clubs around town.

Jesse will be here signing copies and talking about why this book is amazing and why he picked the bands and cocktails he selected for the book from 2pm-5pm on December 2!

And to top it all off, we’re going to have a musical guest joining Jesse - the infamous punk rock DJ - local punk rock living legend - DJ Jay Insult!

DJ Jay Insult in New Jersey punk rock lifer and the singer of the band Nervous Triggers. He is also an avid record collector, and is well-known for his DJ nights at various bars, clubs, and DIY/punk spaces in Asbury Park, Jersey City, New Brunswick, NYC, and beyond, spinning a danceable mix of classic punk & hardcore, new wave, post-punk, goth, ska/reggae, garage, and more on vinyl!

Now you can rock out with DJ Jay Insult AND grab a copy of Jesse’s amazing new volume - or BOTH volumes!!!

Beetlejuice LIVE

Omniversal Entertainment in conjuction with East Side Mags brings you BEETLEJUICE LIVE!

Yes you heard us. Beetlejuice (that’s 2) LIVE and IN-PERSON!

It’s been a really long time since this eclectic collection of voice actors and comedians have graced our walls but they’re back and foaming at the mouth to bring you the best live entertainment they possibly can muster.

You might remember this team (under a different name) from previous live readings for such acclaimed cinema reproductions live Monty Python and Young Frankenstein.

But this is a special Halloween version that will include a live script reading featuring as many as 6 voice actors and comedians along with a very special raffle for a $50 East Side Mags gift card with 100% of the proceeds going to support Tomorrow’s Children’s Fund at Hackensack Meridian Children’s Hospital.

Plus who knows what other surprises await. After all it’s a live reading of Beetlejuice……..yikes! We said it 3 times!

Well - while we try to get ourselves out of this mess we made, we hope you’ll be able to join us at 7pm on October 29 for a very special Halloween event!

Zombie Walk Montclair 2022

Come get spooky with East Side Mags and Indie Arts Montclair!

Join us for our annual Zombie Walk (well - our first since 2019)!

We’re kicking things off at 1:30pm where we’ll have make-up artists on hand to help give you a good gash, slash or some general damage to “zombify” you and get you ready for the walk around Montclair! We also encourage you to dress up in any costume you want or “zombify” yourself if you so choose!

At 3pm, we’re taking it to the streets! As a giant Zombie horde, we’ll walk around Montclair and spread the spooky spirit to patrons, businesses, looky-loos and casual walkers. We’re thinking Night of the Living Dead zombies - NOT 28 Days Later zombies so we’ll be WALKING not running through the streets! We will also be the mindful undead and follow all traffic signals and respect the wishes of others not participating if they’re not “into it”. Just don’t be THAT ZOMBIE. Be undead but also respectful of others.

Then, after we walk the streets, we’ll come back to the shop where we’ll be joined by Serendipity Cafe Kids who will rock out with a rendition of Monster Mash followed by a Zombie/Costume contest with prizes for:

  • Best Baby Costume

  • Best Kids/Youth Costume

  • Best Adult Costume

Our Zombie/Costume contest will be judged by none other than the spookiest ghoul this side of the Netherworld - Mr. Haunt!

The festivities will conclude around 6pm.

We hope you’ll be able to dig yourself out of your grave to join us!

It’s going to be an absolute scary (and super fun) time!

Celebratory Punk Show!

We’ve been a little “radio silent” recently as we wanted to get our verbiage and information absolutely correct on this but we have FANTASTIC NEWS!!!

Previously, this event was going to be a fundraiser for a local friend/activist who was diagnosed with cancer in her uterus. When we found out, we donated to the GoFundMe but it didn’t feel like enough for someone who is so kind-hearted and community focused. So we planned an art auction and punk show to show our support and raise funds. Well, it seems there is, in fact, good in this world. This information was just passed on to us directly from the family:

Just want people to know that Andrea had to have cancer surgery, and that surgery (radical hysterectomy) removed the tumor and that the cancer didn't spread outside of the organs removed. The doctor said because it didn't spread, she doesn't need chemo. We just have to follow up every 3 months and she needs to recover from the surgery. Thanks.

Well - there it is. Science prevails and we no longer need to raise funds. But there is a VERY REAL NEED to CELEBRATE. So while the art auction is no more, the punk show is a solid GO!

Join us for a 3-band punk show featuring incredible talent from:

East Side Mags has and always will be about community and togetherness - regardless of where you come from, who you are, where you been and what you think. We stick together. We’re a family, first and foremost. And we look out for each other - like family.

We hope you’ll join us.
